A new chapter in our story…
Paul Golini Sr.’s Roman heritage inspired his construction empire in Canada.
Growing up in downtown Rome, Paul marvelled at the antiquity of the Colosseum and the Appian Way. To him, the city’s sewers, roads and aqueducts were masterpieces. With his love of architecture and infrastructure, plus the inspiration of his father’s career as a heritage builder and renovator, Paul Sr.’s first job in Canada was as a project manager, designing and building the Gardiner Expressway and highways to Toronto Pearson International Airport.
In 1967, Paul started Bitini Construction, which thrived for more than a decade; in 1978, he launched PGE Contracting; and then in the early 1980s, he transitioned into homebuilding in the Hamilton area. Each venture grew from Paul’s initial love of Roman architecture.
In 1993, Paul and his partners, including his son, Paul Golini Jr., founded Empire Communities, constructing more than 22,000 homes across six regions, including Southwestern Ontario, the Greater Toronto Area, and south of the border into Georgia and Texas.
It was only natural that after his passing, his son Paul Jr. and his grandsons – Luca, Marco and Matteo – would begin a new chapter in their home-building journey; Cardea Homes, a bespoke home-building company focused on high-quality roman building practices, customer service, wellness and sustainability.
Cardea Homes is an ode to the Golini legacy, and today, our story begins.
